WSK - INTERNATIONAL SERIES

GRAND FINAL OF THE SEASON  IN SPAIN

Great anticipation for the KF2 where Jack Harvey (Birel-Iame) will race for the title with Smarrazzo.

The conclusive appointment for the WSK International Championship is to be held on the week-end 2nd to 5th October on the Zuera International Circuit in Spain, just 25 km from the historical city of Saragozza.  This year, the Zuera circuit will conclude this long and impassioned “FIA Authorised Series”, which still has to assign two Pilot titles and three EuroCups to each team.  For this, the last appointment of the season will see at the start all 4 international classes of the Series: KF3, KF2, KF1 and KZ1.  Motives for interest will certainly not be lacking, even though the titles of the two principle categories have already been assigned: to the wearer of Birel colours Sauro Cesett the KF1 and to Marco Ardigò the KZ1.  In the KF1, for example, many of the pilots and teams can attempt a prompt return after the Muro Leccese’s World championships, whilst for the Birel’s colours the objective will be the title of manufacturer.
The Spanish race in the ‘regina’ class will be rendered even more interesting by the new formula of a sole Final with direct access from the three qualifying races.  The distance will be 35 km. which is  40% more than the conventional length.  For the Birel Motorsport, their adversary to beat in the “team” classification will be the Crg.  Tony Kart has also been included in the final rush together with other followers such as Kosmic Racing Department, MGM Racing, GKS, OPCR and Maranello Kart.  But for Birel the major expectation will be where Jack Harvey and Smarrazzo are divided by one point only at the top of the provisional classification.  Birel’s English pilot is determined to gain the title, having already shown to be strong in the pre-race tests undertaken.  For Harvey this could develop into a splendid “double” after his achievement at the beginning of the season at the then “Asia Pacific”.  But, behind the first two, there are a further six pilots racing for the victory, thereby rendering unreliable any prognosis.  Amongst these, the main probabilities are James Thorp, together with Flavio Camponeschi and Oliver Rowland.  The three together are 16 points from Smarrazzo.  In the EuroCup, however, there are eight pretenders standing in line for  victory.  In the lead is the Tony Kart Racing Team, in front of Birel Motorsport.  There follows the Tony Kart Junior Racing Team, Morsicani Racing and Maranello Kart, then Ricky Flynn Motorsport, GKS Paul Lemmens and Ward Racing.  Instead, in the KZ1, with the title already assigned to Marco Ardigò the Birel Team will take the advantage of experimenting some new techniques to be used in the next season.  Finally, for the KF3 the battle for the title is between Maisano and De Vries, whilst the Birel pilots decided not to participate in the race preferring to spend a few days of tests in Italy in view of the next Industries Trophy.
