JAF ALL JAPAN CHAMPIONSHIP KF1 RD.3 & RD.4- KF2 & FS125 RD.4
BIREL’S EXCEPTIONAL SEASON CONTINUES IN JAPAN
DESPITE SOME BAD LUCK THAT HIT ISHII IN PARTICULAR IN THE KF1, THE BIREL DRIVERS WERE THE LEADING PLAYERS ON THE TRACK
The 2nd and 3rd seasonal trial of the most important karting championship in Japan, the JAF Series All Japan Championship, has proven that the Birel drivers are prominent in all classes. Starting with the top class, the KF1, where an excellent Ishii was the only driver in the trial round who was able to go below the 41” mark (registering 40.8”), winning the pole. But it wasn’t going to be his weekend, which was evident in the qualification rounds where his engine failed after only a few laps. In the Final, the Birel driver was therefore set back to the 23rd position, but thanks to his superiority (registering a record lap that was 3 tenths better than his adversaries) he returned once again to the head of the race only to undergo another cold shower due to a technical problem that stopped him 6 laps from the finish line. The victory therefore went to Sasaki from the Kosmic team but the positive balance for the Birel colors was saved by Othani’s excellent 2nd place along with the 4th and 5th places won by Katsuta and Maehara. During the same weekend, the KF1 also raced the 4th trial, but even in this case luck was not on Ishii’s side, the fastest of the Birel drivers. During the qualifier he had to sacrifice part of the session for engine testing, while in the race an accident forced him down to 13th place. However, in the Final, Ishii quickly returned to the top of the class, moving up to 3rd place where he then finished the race even with a brake problem that was becoming more noticeable. The victory again went to Sasaki after various alternations with Katsuta from the Birel-Winforce team. Othani and Maehara again had positive results, closing in 4th and 5th place, emphasizing the collaborative achievement of the Birel team that placed 4 drivers in the top 5 spots. But if the “cherry” was missing from the top of the KF1 success, the Birel colors didn’t miss out on it in the KF2 thanks to Ohatsu’s clean and full victory over Kiyoara. Birel was also in 3rd place with the talented Kojima and in 5th place with Kurosawa. The weekend was therefore concluded with a nice podium even in the “spirited” race in terms of the presence of FS 125 where Suzuki and Fujinami gifted Birel with 2nd and 3rd spots on the podium, ending the race behind the winner, Agui.
