ROTAX EURO CHALLENGE 2008 SOSNOVA - 26 -27 LUGLIO
POULTER IS THE DD2 EUROPEAN CHAMPION
The Kalman team’s pilot has become European champion in the prestigious Rotax Trophy thanks to a 2nd place in the Pre-Final behind Thum and a splendid victory in the Final beating the same Thum at a photo finish. This is an important success for Birel not only as it is a difficult category but also a great success regarding presence. Poulter came very close to success during the last season, but a co-existing obligation with the vehicles deprived him of a title which both he and his team have strongly demonstrated and believed to deserve. Birel’s competitiveness in DD2 was further confirmed by the excellent races performed by Young, 7th in the Pre-Final and 4th in the Final, as did Adams, 11th in the 1st race and 10th in the Final. Birel have also been highlighted and emphasis has been demonstrated in the Junior class where Sean Frost obtained 7th place in the Final after having finished in 10th place in the Pre-Final behind his team companion Kancsar (finishing 13th in the Final). Peter Kalman, the Hungarian team manager for Birel commented on the success:
“The Rotax Trophy places in evidence the worthiness of the chassis better than any competition, due to the fact that everyone uses the same motor and tyres. Because of this our work is of particular value, and moreover, a title assigned over more than one trial race is of very important value in this type of sport. Poulter was very good and the entire team has worked well together to guarantee him conditions whereby he can express himself better.”
