GERMAN CHAMPIONSHIP – 4TH ROUND LIEDOLSHEIM, 26-27 JULY 2008

BIREL, PROTAGONIST IN GERMANY

The main Karting championship in Germany has confirmed the Birel colours to be at the top of the German market.  In particular, Ricardo Agostini and Marc Coleselli were in great evidence in the KF3.  During the debut race with the TM motors they dominated most of the weekend.  The pilots from the KSB team obtained pole position during the qualifying race with Agostini and 3rd best time with Coleselli, to further confirming themselves at the head in all races.  At the start of the Sprint Race Agostini was quick off the mark and obtained success over the Belgian De Vries, whilst Coleselli finished in 4th place.  A positive outcome for the German from the Solgat Grapp team who made 8th position.  However, misfortune overcame him during the Final  depriving him of further  success: in fact, during the 8th lap Agostini skidded on water left on the track by a competitor in an accident from the previous lap and re-entered the track only at 20th place.  Coleselli fared worse as he came in last.  Therefore,  the lead was successfully taken by De Vries, whilst 3rd place on the podium went to a well-deserved Grapp.  Agostini was able to climb to 10th place and Coleselli 24th.  However, on balance the outlook for Birel pilots is very positive and brings hope for the imminent European competition and the final trial in the German championship which will be held during the middle of August.  A positive outcome also for Paolo De Conto in the KF2, notwithstanding contact during the Spring Race which took him from 4th to 19th place at the start.  But in the Italian Final he knew how to get back on top and reached 6th place which could now take him to perform a decisive role in the championship with Tom Grice.
