BIREL IN THE FORE WITH RADIM MAXA

The 2008 Open Masters Championship was concluded on the Busca-Piedmont circuit.  It was here where the Birel colours came very close to success in the KF3 class with the rookie Radim Maxa. The pilot, from the Czech Republic and  supported by Birel in the contest Easykart Driver programme has  run an excellent season in the KF3 debut  competing against the more experienced Kevin Ceccon right up to the final championship trial.  In the deciding contest Ghirelli held places in both the Pre-Final and the Final, whilst Ceccon managed to beat Maxa in both races finishing the Pre-Final and Final in 2nd position, followed by the Birel pilot.  Maxa attempted to impede his adversary by racing an excellent Final, during the course of which he was in front till the last three laps. Ceccon then managed to take 2nd place taking the title with slightly more than 10 points over the pilot from the Emilia kart team; he, however, had the consolation of the ‘Laurel’ reserved for rookies, a special classification, where he preceded his companions Arone and Basiliotti.  Viberti also had a positive weekend, exiting in the Final due to contact with Antunes after previously having passed Ceccon when in 3rd position.
