POULTER ON TARGET AGAIN IN THE DD2

The South African driver Leeroy Poulter has again targeted his 2nd consecutive victory (in 2 races) in the DD2 class of the European Rotax Series. The Birel-Kalman Motorsport driver had no rivals and is now headed even more towards winning the title that evaded him last year only because of a combination during the South African championship. In the provisional championship classification, Poulter led the provisional rankings with 178 points, ahead of Kroes by at least 22 lengths. Some problems, however, penalized Axcil Jefferis’ weekend in the Junior class and he had to be satisfied with 25th place in the final. Now in the championship classification, he has dropped to 5th place with 143 points, but the game is not yet over against the leader, Korjius (160 points) thanks to two more races that have yet to be run. There were other delusions for the Birel racers in the Max Seniors class due to Simpson’s withdraw who, however, showed in the qualification and other rounds to be able to strive for full results. Finally, in the Master class, John Van Wyck reached the podium, finishing behind Bourquard and Feber. Championship possibilities are also solid for him due to a short qualifying round in which the leader, Bourquard, gained only 17 points. For the continental Rotax Series, the next race will be on the track at Sosnova (Cz) on July 27.
