ALL JAPAN CHAMPIONSHIP - EASTERN SERIES ROUND 2 (HARUNA)
BIREL’S
DOMINION WITH 5 DRIVERS IN THE TOP 5 SPOTS IN THE FS 125
The rain influenced
the 2nd round of the Japanese Championship raced at Haruna.
There were three classes at the starting line: The KF2, The
FP-Junior (free chassis, Yamaha engines and Yokoama tyres)
and the increasingly popular FS 125 with Iame engines and
Dunlop tyres.
After the great dominion in the first trial, the Birel and
Winforce drivers made themselves noticed even though the weather
during some phases of the race promoted some surprise results
as in the KF2, when during the qualification round the wet
track gradually began to dry and the poleman, Asano (Birel/TM/Dunlop)
had to allow the driver with Bridgestone tyres, Tataishi to
pass him; afterwards Asano left the track due to a contact
as did Ohtsu (Winforce) who, however, was then the fastest
driver in the Final, climbing back up from last place to 3rd
place behind Tateishi and Kiyohara.
But the payback for the Birel and Winforce drivers arrived
with Tsuoboi’s decisive achievement in the FP-Junior
despite the presence of some local drivers, deeply familiar
with the track, who made things more difficult. The Winforce
team driver won ahead of Matsumoto, while other Winforce drivers
whose performance should be highlighted were Kikuchi and Tsutsumi,
in 4th and 5th place respectively.
The last class presented was the FS 125 with Iame-Parilla
engines that, with a good 35 drivers presented, is becoming
increasingly popular in Japan. Even this race took place under
very difficult track conditions that, however, highlighted
Sutou’s ability (Birel R 31), who was able to move up
from the 11th starting position to win the race.
For Birel, this category proved to be an absolute dominion,
in fact, in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place were Kutata (Birel
R31), Tobita (Winforce) and the two Suzukis, with Winforce
and Birel R 31, respectively. |
