ROTAX EURO CHALLENGE 2010 - ROUND 3 - BRUCK (AUSTRIA), 17-18 JULY

BIREL- KALMAN TEAM DRIVERS DOMINATE IN SENIOR MAX

Edward Brand from England won MAX Class Pre-final and Final and  Karol Dabski ranked excellently in the same category

Bruck - Other two Birel  representatives  triumph in Max category at the  3rd appointment in Austria, following Leeroy Poulter ‘s and Axel Jefferies’ victories at the  2nd  Rotax European Championship race.

Karol Dabski finished first in qualification and Edward Brand ranked third.

At the end of the leg the two Kalman Motorsport drivers gained respectively 2nd and 3rd absolute placement.

Pre-final was pretty tough for Brand and Dabski, racing with used tyres against opponents who started off with new ones.

Despite such handicap, Edward Brand was in the lead as soon as in the first stages of the race and won, while Dabski, victim of a slight contact in  start stage,  was pushed back into 9th  place.

Thanks to his determination he eventually finished in excellent 6th performing the fastest lap.

The two  Birel teammates raced the Final with new tyres and Edward Brand proved  once again his invincibility, finishing first with  over 2 seconds advantage.

But it was bad luck again for Karol Dabski: another contact penalized him right after staring off and, despite running the fastest lap, he ranked behind the first.

Edward Brand is now 3rd in championship classification.

Rotax continental series 4th and final appointment will be held at Genk circuit.

Peter Kalman commented on the Austrian weekend:

”Our chassis turned out to be the best, guaranteeing excellent performances under all track conditions. And, in a single brand with all participants using the same engine and tyres, such feature really makes the difference. Our drivers and our team technical staff did the rest: the result was a brilliant weekend. We are now looking forward to Genk, still aiming at the highest step of the podium."
