BIREL AND RK DRIVERS TO RACE WSK WORLD SERIES ANNOUNCED
Birel Motorsport will be on the track with six drivers focusing on KF classes. RK team confirms Basz in KF2 and engages Fuchs in KZ2 following the brilliant season with Joka team.
Birel Motorsport disclose their plans driver wise, just shortly before the first round of top karting season leading championship WSK World Series. No major changes in their plans, but rather a great deal of confirmation following the work started in the first months of this year and carried out so far in WSK Euro Series. Sauro Cesetti and Libor Toman are confirmed in top class SKF, the latter will be also flanked by Andrea Dalè from Birel-KSB team, who will compete directly for the racing division of the Lissone based company in the World Series.
The Euro Series team has been virtually confirmed also in KF2, with Spaniard Barrabeig and English driver Lennox. They were both in the spotlight in the continental Series and will be among the category's top drivers. To finish, the latest excellent performances at the Euro Series Sarno race have won extremely young Christian Sorensen the right to defend Birel Motorsport colours in KF3. As everybody knows, Birel race division will also manage RK official team.
Two official drivers will tackle the World Series: Karol Basz confirmed for KF2 and Daniel Fuchs in KZ2. As regards Fuchs, it must be said that despite his role in the official team for World Series had been announced at the beginning of the year, he has already repaid all the trust Birel management had granted him and is now a potential protagonist for the gear-class. Yet, not only the official teams will sport Birel and RK colours, as several external teams connected to these brands will take part in the championship. Among them, Birel will be supported by some outstanding squads like Italsport with Lars Sorensen in KF2, Swiss team Spirit that will follow Kevin Ludi in KZ2 and JRP racing in KF2 with Jordan King.
Portimao first round will be run on a Saturday, precisely the 3rd of July, as the WSK circus weekend is scheduled on the same days as the WTCC race. Such arrangement was agreed in order to optimize television coverage and encourage the audience to follow both events.
Whereas the 2nd round in Millville, Usa, will once again be a Thursday to Sunday 4 day event, just like the last appointment to be held in Egypt.
This championship will stand as the top competitive event for international karting top classes, as well as a great opportunity for drawing the attention to this sport, as highlighted by Ronni Sala, Chairman of Birel Motorsport : " It is the eve of an extremely important karting appointment, the outcome of the will of the main builders to give our sport a highly prestigious championship covering several appointments, hence able to stimulate outstanding markets, enhancing each single competitor’s technical excellence while guaranteeing great image return. It will be a kind of international showcase active June through October, emphasized by the excellent media coverage wanted by the Series promoter. As already said, also technical competition will be extremely high level and the leading chassis and engine builders will have the chance to get in the spotlight. And, finally, this Series is also the best place for young drivers seeking popularity, especially those racing in KF3 and KF2 classes who might become tomorrow’s motoring protagonists. As far as we are concerned, we are absolutely glad that WSK has landed in the USA, a greatly important market where we can meet our local retailers and teams, catalyzing all the attention of American experts on this important event for a whole weekend. Technically wise, we are really satisfied of the first half of the season: it was all about working hard to develop the new BMB engines, as well as to optimize our 2010 chassis/tyres performance. These are all reasons why we believe we will do well in this world championship, benefiting of part of the outcome of the work we have carried out so far. That means we will start off with moderate optimism, confident that Birel and RK drivers will be among the big names in all classes."
